Slowly Going Back to Long
In the beginning of the summer, right before she graduated from Preschool. I chopped off probably 4 inches from Paley’s hair. As you can see from the before photo, her hair was really long. It went past the middle of her back. I miss that length because it really suite her face and personality. While the shorter cut is easier on us when it comes to daily management, I want the long back. So here we sit waiting for it to grow out. It’s actually growing really fast.
Two other friends just chopped off their daughters hair and are praising the easy daily routine of short hair. I did the same in the first few weeks of the new cut but I think in the end, the short hair has allowed me to be to relaxed with her hygiene. I am sure that also has to do with the fact she’s not in school. So here we wait for the locks to grow out slowly. I am hoping that her hair will be at a good length by November, in time for our family portrait.
Recently I was with Paley at Jamba Juice, which is located a block over from the middle school in LG. It was the first day of school in the LG school district and to top it off, the temp outside was over 100 degrees. We ended up at Jamba right after the middle school was let out. The place was swarmed with girls, a lot of cliche girls. It was obvious the cliches and their hierarchy based on the hair lengths. All of the popular girls had long hair. The length Paley use to have and that got me wondering. What will the trend be when she’s that age or in high school. It immediately made me think of all the short hair in the 80’s. Remember Caroline Mulford, can you name the movie in the picture above? And yes that’s Jamie Gertz on the right.
