Waiting for the next big date!
Our surrogate “D.” completed her medical examination with flying colors. Doctor Z. basically looked at her uterus and cervix and he said she is in great shape, which good news for her and great news for us. So what’s next? Our egg donor’s medical examination, which is not until June 19th, Doctor Z. gets booked really quickly. So the ball is now rolling, somewhat, once the medical examination for the egg donor is complete, we will start to write and sign the contracts. Doctor Z. and our lawyer said the standard process is to wait until the first trimester is done before starting to work on the legal documents and filing them in court. Considering the mass amount of paperwork involved, spreading it out into the pregnancy help lighten the stress level.
In preparation for the little one, Clem and I are taking a First Aid certification course tomorrow evening at the local Red Cross. I have not been certified or re-certified in almost 10 years. So, I know I have to relearn and learn new techniques. I am actually really excited to relearn all of this, I would to even go further and possibly start teaching swim lessons again. I miss it!
The backyard is coming along, over the Memorial Day weekend we had our friend’s Erin & Bryans’ gardener come in and weed the entire backyard. He is coming back next Tuesday to redo sprinkler system in the backyard and layout the rest of lawn. No more doggy dirt pit, for those of you who don’t know the dirt pit used to be a doggy area. Clem the past couple of months has been breaking up the dirt and finding some crazy things. From large slabs of marble and limestone to PVC pipes that serve no purpose or kids toys!
Today I am oiling the patio furniture and starting to work on the bench. The plan is to also tear up all the plants around the lawn and replant up into the two tears. Then we are going to lay down a weed membrane and lay slate gravel down around the lawn. So right now I am on the hunt for slate gravel, which might be a serious hunt. Clem and I were up at the DeYoung Museum in SF over the weekend to see the Vivienne Westwood exhibit before it closes next week. Every time we see the lobby atrium with the tropical trees and planets we love the look of the broken slate gravel they used. The next phase is to tear out the first tier, which is rotted wood, and replace it with a deep cement wall. We don’t expect to start that till July or August.
