HKfamily5 Wishing You A Happy Thanksgiving 2025

Continuing the tradition with our “Thanks” post for the year. The first post was done during COVID in 2020. Sharing our thanks in hopes of manifesting more good, not just in our world, but our community and home. I think we need it more than ever now, it’s been one heck of a year for everyone. When I looked back at our 2024 and 2020 post, I see challenges being shined upon, and family keeping the light going, even when we loose those we love. As 2025 closes, we are finishing the last few touches of HK5corner, and are thankful we stuck together through such a long project. Clem and I are both elated to finishing this project. We are slowly purchasing much needed furniture for empty rooms like the sitting room. I got lucky in October with great find of a spindle chair at auction shop up in San Francisco. Very comfortable, and one couldn’t not pass up the $100 price tag.

Fabulou $100 Chair….more of this please.

As the kids have progressed with school and after school activities, spending time as a family is just as important. With this being Paley’s senior year, we are reminded that special occasions like trick-or-treating on Halloween are drifting away. We might see her return on the big holidays, like today. All of the little celebrations will have to be shared from a distance. Something many of us experience in our young adulthood. However, Clem and I are both excited to hear all of the fun stories of adventures she has on these special days. While we won’t be with her, we will certainly enjoy her news, and reminded of my own adventures in college on dates like all hollows eve.

Yes, it’s hard to be away from family on these moments, new friends help fill that gap, opens up new comfort levels in theses moments. In my college days, I missed many things back home, the passing of my Great-Grandmother Mary Cardoza, was a big one. It pained me my parents wouldn’t pay for me to fly home during my freshman year. My aunt once told me, the reason why my father said no, was to make sure I stayed at school. For some reason, there was worry I would want to stay home, instead of returning to the east coast. I eventually talked to my father about why, and he couldn’t explain why my aunt said that to me. I came home a month later for Thanksgiving, and was eager to head back to school. Now, during freshman week, I did call my mother crying, to come home, because I didn’t think I could keep up with all the non-stop social events, so much partying in that one week. I was used to clubbing and partying before going to college, but freshman week at J&W was brutal. I never drank so much and never partied so hard. Night after night, it just wouldn’t stop. Honestly, I found a happy medium as Freshman year progressed, but honestly, I never partied that hard ever again. Messy nights, yes, but even in my 20’s I was known to skip a night or two out on a 3 or 4 day weekend.

Today, on Turkey Day I am grateful the five of us are together. And we are looking forward to more family gatherings as our little family begins to spread out through the world, and eventually grow. I do see us heading to NYC on Turkey Day to finally cross off the Thanksgiving Day parade from our bucket lists. For now, it’s time to cook, start a xmas puzzle, play cards and stuff ourselves like turkey. Then turn on our family tradition of watching Home for the Holidays. When this movie was released, it became go to for my family to watch on or around Thanksgiving. Mimi was most certainly Adele, or one could even say, certainly my Grammie! There is still debate as to which sibling is which sibling in the movie. One thing is for certain, my father was certainly Henry Larson and Ashley is definitely Kitt. Which I guess makes my sister Claudia for sure!

With great love our family is …
