Say Hello To Bimbo’s

What a difference 2 weeks makes. Little over two weeks ago my second and secured location 111 Minna started acting weird by sending me emails asking questions about my event that had already been answered in person and on email. Slowly they became erratic with their correspondence and tossing me around between a handful of people. In the end, I was spooked and alarmed by the conversations we were having. I ran screaming to my friends event planning company who I planned on using a month out from the event. We signed early and they helped me get back on track.

I started hunting for a new location and I had remembered Bimbo’s right after signing the contract with Minna. I contacted them to see if they were available and thankfully there is some luck in this old girl. They were free. We immediately started the ball rolling and I did a site visit to make sure we are okay with the layout. It was such an amazing feeling walking back into the space. The first and only time I had been there was for an event back in 1999 or 2000. It was a .com party and I don’t remember a lot from that evening.

Bimbo’s is still amazing and how perfect of location. A club that my parents, grand parents and great grandmother use to go to back many decades ago. I got to meet the current owner and his father during the visit and they were so friendly and chop filled with great stories. I started off this journey making concessions with the first location. With Speakeasy SF I had to keep the guest list under 100 because it was such a small space. They lost their lease and then I choose Minna because of the size even though it was limiting us with vendor and performers luxuries. Performers would have to dress in curtained green rooms and the kitchen would have sit outside in a tent.

Alas that’s all gone now. The performers have real green rooms and my friend Ross has a really big kitchen!!!!!!! I am ecstatic with this space and I am so grateful to be working with my friend Mellysa and her boss Sasha. While this was a slight setback, it will certainly be a great change of events. check back soon……..
