HKfamily5 Wishing You A Happy Thanksgiving 2024

It’s been a long while since I’ve done this post and actually I did this post in 2020, after the election. I can’t believe we are back in this pickle again. But, we are and we have to get back to the basics. That said, these days I am living by the Terence mantra, “Homo sum, humani nihil a me alienum puto,” or “I am a man, I consider nothing that is human alien to me.” I learned this line from Maya Angelou many many moons ago. It may be a scary time, but being there for those in need and for ourselves when things are dark is so important. The last time I wrote the post, I wanted to just forget 2020 and the whole world of quarantine we were all under. Looking back those time did have their dark days, but it’s light days as well. This year though, we have all made so many new beginning in our HK5 family. One thing I reflect a lot about is the passing of my mother in 2022, and on Thanksgiving Day.

Today, on Turkey Day, our family has started a new chapter, because I just can’t face this holiday anymore. We celebrated, like business as usual in 2023, but something was missing, and I found myself drained and hurting with the day that not only my mother loved, but a day that is now marked with her passing. This year I requested a change, and the solution was to start traveling more during this week long vacation. This year we crossed off a bucket list item for Ama, by booking rooms at the Ahwanee Hotel in Yosemite for three nights. Even now on day three, writing this post, gone is the anxiety of my mother missing and so much more. I think we found something that will not only allow us to build new memories with the kids but a new tradition for your family. Look back on this year, there is so much to be grateful for.

With great love we are…….

Thankful for our health and that of family and friends.

Thankful for all those who helped me end a 11 year chapter of volunteering at the kids elementary school.

Thankful for all the craftsman who keep surprising us with a little things at HK5corner.

Thankful for the big number birthdays Clem and I celebrate this year.

Thankful for the college road trip, Paley and I did for almost two weeks.

Thankful we will ring in the New Year back in HK5corner.
