Margot 12th: Crochet with  Love

From writing music, crocheting to a new found love for artwork. Margot spent her 11th year developing all her creative skills. She continued to work with our go to music teacher to learn the Guitar she received at Christmas this year. Music had a strong presence in her life over this year. From writing her own lyrics and music to accompany the words, to even writing stories. Margot took the big jump again, performing in the school talent show, singing a song she had been working on for 4 months. She played her guitar, went blank halfway through, but took a deep breath and powered through the rest of the song. She was absolutely amazing.

As mentioned, she sailed through 5th grade with a rockstar teacher and many of her friends in her class. Margot flourished through 5th grade and when it came to the last day of school, graduation day, she was already beaming about moving on to middle school. I believe that Margot was ready for middle school on the first day of 5th grade. Something we saw with her older sister when she started 5th grade. Margot still made sure to make the best out of the school year. She finished another soccer season, making it to the final championship round playing 6 games in less than a weeks time. I still think these sports are expecting to much of the kids, but I think they are just trying to thin out the herd, and that sad.

Margot immediately said yes to doing the school shows. She played Jafar in Aladdin and her brothers love interest in Midsummer Nights Dream. They hammed it up and did a great job. Eyebrows were raised but it’s hilarious how people take theater so seriously. It’s a show. Grow up! She moved on in the spring to working on her music and teaching herself how to crochet. Margot fell in love with the crochet art form. She’s still learning new techniques. She was also the first to announce that she was ready to move back to the corner house. Confessing, she was tired of living in the rental.

Summer swimming was in full force and Margot was loving every moment if it. We are looking to get her back in the water this winter get her back in to the gear of swimming. She is also still liking soccer, and even kicked off middle school for trying out for the girls soccer team. Sadly competition was fierce but she has some new friends who made the cut. Margot finished her 5th grade season of rec soccer with the championship game. The girls worked hard that season and had a great coach. Sadly the girls had the days of back to back games, before the championship game. They were exhausted. Our holiday portrait session was right after the game, and there are many shots of her looking pretty tired. Her 6th grade season for the same league was a little chaotic. Lets face it, is there any sport that is not chaotic. All in all, she enjoyed playing this season.

Looking ahead for sports in her 12th year, she plans to be in the water for sure but also on land. No cross country or track, instead she’s very interested in joining the field hockey team at her middle school. She’s still talking about a cat as well. We hope once we are settled into HKcorner5, and the dog is able to claim his territory, we can finally get a cat. I just need to get over the fact this cat is going to destroy all my furniture. My hope is having three kids, it will get enough attention to not piss all over the place, because I didn’t give love 24/7. Margot continues to surprise us with her ability to cultivate her talents. Currently she’s crocheting a very large blanket, or hat. Not sure what it is yet. She’s loving Middle School and is shaping up to be a hard worker like her brother.
