I Got A GIG!
I got the contract job. I am working for a sister company to Clem’s company. It’s a simple customer service position but I need to start from the bottom. After the past year and half of searching for a new job that fit my background, I kept hitting a lot of brick walls. If you plan on taking time off work for a long period of time, make sure you have a good excuse. Just because you can is not a good excuse! My interviews went really well, both of the women who I talked to were very friendly and I emphasized a lot on my understanding I need to start from the bottom again and what I was really looking for was a great team and great company to join. I got confirmation by the time I got back home. The only downside to this new position is that I have to commute to Santa Clara. The offices are down the street from Great America, so if you’re in the neighborhood let me know!
Last night Clem and I took ”Basic First Aid” coarse and the San Jose Red Cross offices. The offices are located in the industrial area of San Jose, an area I’ve never seen before. Surprises since my last Red Cross class over 10 years ago, you are no longer required to look for a pulse! The course did not include CPR so we need to go back for another class. Sadly the instructor was terrible, she showed up wear street clothes, no Red Cross polo or t-shirt and treated the curriculum as an inconvenience for her schedule and breezed through the class like it was not important or serious.
Probably one of the worst instructors I have ever seen. At the beginning of the class she had everyone introduce him or herself and say whether or not they have taken first aid before and if so how long. Only two guys were there to be recertified while the remaining was first time. it was a first time for us since its been over 10 years since we were certified.
Bottom line – the Red Cross has gotten really Lazy or Careless in the detail of the proper procedures. They seem to emphasize more on calling 911 and just standing back and doing nothing. Don’t touch this, don’t do that and definitely don’t do this! But if the person is unconscious you can do whatever you want!!!!!! I think for the CPR course I am going to find another location to be certified. I am sure my cousin Becky can point me in the right direction.
No real updates on the baby front – still waiting for 18th to come! Waiting is a key factor to the whole process! so my first advice to any perspective IVF candidates, BE PATIENT! I do have a few action items on my hands at the moment. I am starting contract process with our lawyer so we a prepared ahead of time. Just grateful to have D. in our lives and my brother is so open-minded!
