Puppy Love and So Needy: August Nova
Paley and Auggie
If you missed the news, I finally caved after 5 years of no dogs in our house and got the kids a dog. Why the break? The chichi’s were in my life for over 15 years and we or maybe just I needed a break. Five years later we found little August Nova up in Sacramento. Our oldest has had issues with dogs for most of her life and we wanted this new addition be a positive experience. Unfortunately the timing to pick up the pup was crunch time but we were able to squeeze in the pickup to get the first pick. We choose to keep the puppy a surprise at first. We woke up in the early AM to drive north and be there by 10AM. Initially we were brokering to get the one female pup in the litter. Sadly, communication over email was slow, go figure.
When we arrived, we were lead into the kennel area of the pups and there were 5 male pups all nestled in the dog house asleep. When Paley said “OH!”, they woke up and one of the five came running out of the dog house. We were looking at the most energetic and happy see us German Short Hair Pointer. And if we are being honest, the most beautiful of the 5. Auggie was the only one that was practically all white. The breeder had to lift the dog house up to get the other four dogs out of the house for us to see. Paley was glued to Auggie the whole time. His energy was on high.
After about 30 minutes of looking at the pups. Auggie was still going strong and be playful with Paley. The other four pups, were right back into the dog house. Paley had settled on her choice. The pup was glued to her and she sat with him on the drive home. When we got back home eventually it was the afternoon and the twins were still down for nap. Mimi was watching the twins and she was excited to see Auggie and likewise for him. When the twins got up, Augige was all over them and the three kids were sold on having a puppy in our household.
It’s now over a month since we brought Auggie home. He is needy like on a whole new level. But the kids are loving every moment of him. Christmas was a blast as you can see from the photos. And yes we had a baby fence around the Radko Christmas tree. I was not going to take the risk. I have a feeling though, this puppy will slowly become Lochlan’s puppy. I’ve never seen him snuggle so much!!! What about the name? Well, Paley got to choose the name, and she named him after two of her favorite characterss from Marissa Meyer’s Rengades book.
