What to Watch: Shrinking

Get through the first season and thank me later. The first season is like being analyzed professionally for the first time, for a whole year. It’s painful at first, but in the end you understand. You will be sensitive and in shock! The second season will wake you up, after you realize the importance of the people around you, and the importance of them building you up and holding you up in tough times. These are hard times for many people, thankfully Apple and Netflix will be there to you get through it all. Regardless of the stock market saying otherwise. SHRINKING has you thinking, but what I love about this show, is how with the second season, it hits a rhythm and it’s a familiar rhythm many of us can relate to. Okay, ALL OF US!

Segal, Miller, Goldstein

One of my all-time favorite American shows, that is a perfect example of writers and actors just work perfectly together. Cougartown, a little cul-de-sac family of actors, had it in the can, penny can! Redicously stupid but a great show to binge watch for a good month. Shrinking has the obvious connection with the talented, beautiful and crazy funny Christa Miller. The show was created by it’s star Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) and Brett Goldstein (from Ted Lasso) and Bill Lawrence (creator of Scrubs and Cougartown). Lawrence brought his talented wife onto the show, and the winning formula he created on Scrubs and Cougartown, translated perfectly with this cast of heavy hitters. From Harrison Ford and Wendy Malick to the amazing Jessica Williams, who found her talent on the Daily Show back in the teens.

If you want an emotional and funny ride, thanks to great laugh moments that sting, from Miller and Michael Urie! Just get through that first season and you will really fall hard for the second season. The friendships and conflicts are cemented and the characters are easy to fall for just like Scrubs and Cougartown. Bill Lawrence knows how to hook us, that’s for sure.
