The Midnimo Education Project
Last year, a high school friend of Paley’s started a non-profit to raise awareness of the practice of female genital mutilation/cutting and advocating the reduction of this practice occurrence in the United States and abroad. Paley joined her friend’s team to build The Midnimo Education Project. The project’s goal is to provide education to protect people assigned female at birth from these practices and promote awareness and resources to support communities.
These amazing women and their pioneering leader have been working hard for a year to build this program and recently, they did their first interview with a survivor of this practice and now a advocate against it. While this topic can be sensitive, the 30 minute panel on the importance of education and helping support victims is eye opening. We are extremely proud of the project they have put together and the two tier prevention course the leader has organized and researched. The research alone in the course is pivotal to helping end this practice in many cultures.
The link above is to the Projects link tree page which has links to resources, including the prevention course they have published. They are also calling for other youths to help bring more awareness into schools. You can view the interview they did recently with a survivor on their Youtube channel. We are so impressed with the amount of work and passion they have put into this project, while being full-time students. They even managed to create their own 501(c)(3).
You can help the Midnimo Education Project to promote their courses and seminar series by donating to their non-profit GoFundMe —>> https://gofund.me/e1fb9d7fe
