Goodbye: Fashion Mystique Anna Piaggi
While my introduction to the fashion world was through the pages of my mom’s Town & Country’s back in the 80’s. It was also where I got my first glimpse of Italian Vogue Editor Anna Piaggi. Yes, Anna Piaggi on the pages of T&C in the 80’s. Anna was beyond outlandish. She was always a unique one, right along with her longtime friend Zandra Rhodes. I actually sat behind her at a show in Paris in 2005 and overheard a conversation between her and Hamish Bowles from Vogue. I actually have this CitizenK cover somewhere in storage. It was taken back in 1990 during collections, and if you aren’t familiar with the other 3 young ladies, they were known as the “Trinity” at the time of photo. Fashion models Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and of coarse Christy Turlington (two seasons after the great snip heard around the world). Yes, I have to go there, they really weren’t the best of friends. Now the REAL TRINITY were Christy, Gail Elliot and Yasmin LeBon.
Going to miss her illusion of fashion. It was inspiring even though not obtainable. I do have to say, wake up MET Costume Institute! I think you should do reboot of Anna’s retrospective of her 3000+ dresses and 300+ shoes done at the V&A in London. Sleep well Anna!
